Fuzzy Hugs and Warm Wishes

Hi everyone! The latest Mama Elephant release is just so amazing! I really like a lot from this release. For this card I decided to go with the adorable penguins holding a heart.

The background of this card is created with this beautiful stencil from SugarPea Designs called Geo Snowflake. The Distress Oxide colors I used are Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass which go beautifully together. The sentiment I also stamped with those same colors with a gradient effect.

I stamped the penguins from the Fuzzy Hugs stamp set on Perfect Colouring paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with my copic makers in colors that match the background:

  • Penguins: YR01, YR07, C0, C1, C3, C5
  • Penguin Hat: BG72, BG75, BG78, BG15, BG13, BG11
  • Heart: BV00, BV02, BV04

For the snow bank I die cut white cardstock with the Stitched Hillside Border die from Lawn Fawn and popped it up with foamtape. This helps the penguins stand out a bit more as well from the busy background. I thought about adding shimmer and glitter as well, but I actually liked the card like this already so I decided to leave it.

It was really fun to create this card and I hope it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Clean and Simple Panda Card with Distress Oxide Ink

Hi everyone! These panda’s from Mama Elephant are just too adorable! I especially like the little kung fu like panda’s. When you make a card with these panda’s, the card does not need much else. So for this card, I really wanted the panda’s to be the hero on the card without too much distraction from other elements.

The cards I’m sharing today have the same basic design, so the process was also the same. To start I stamped the panda’s with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White paper. To color them, I used the following copic markers:

  • Greens: YG01, YG13, YG17
  • Browns: E31, E55, E57

After all the coloring was done, I used the coordinating dies to die cut them. For the background, I masked off the bottom piece. With my blending brush I applied Distress Oxide Twisted Citron on the cardstock. To add some interest, I also diluted a bit of the ink with water and created splatters on the background.

For the sentiment, I used a ‘Happy Birthday‘ from Lawn Fawn. For one of the cards, I first adhered a strip of black glitter cardstock below the green background before stamping the sentiment. For that card, I also adhered the panda’s with foam squares to add dimension. And for the other card, I glued the panda’s directly to the background. For the card with the black glitter, I also added some glitter with Wink of Stella to some of the panda’s to tie it to the glitter strip.

So these are 2 cards with the same basic design and a small element that is different. I’m curious to hear which one you like the most! Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

2 Cards with 1 Happy Birthday Die from Mama Elephant

Hi everyone! I’m so excited I finally could add these adorable panda’s to my Mama Elephant collection. And I just love the big happy birthday die. Today I want to show you how you can easily make 2 cards out of this 1 big die cut.

Watch my youtube video below or on my channel, and see how I made these 2 cards. It also contains useful tips on creating a shaker card and to easily pop up the Happy Birthday sentiment.

This brand can be hard to come by when you live in The Netherlands. But I have good news for my fellow Europeans! My favourite store, Cloud9 Crafts, has added this brand to their collection! This post is not sponsored by the way, I’m just a big fan of the shop and the great customer service.

I hope you liked these cards and it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Card | Sunset Birthday with Distress Ink

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing another beach themed card with the Beach Chickies from Mama Elephant. In a previous post I created a card with a sunset in a polaroid frame and I liked that idea so much that I extended it to a whole card.

To create the background, I masked of the top and bottom part of the paper. From the bottom to the way up I blended the following Distress Inks making sure they are blended well together for a smooth transition: Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick. To give the background a nice shine, I brushed Perfect Pearls on top. To also a bit more interest, I sprayed water on top to fix the pearls and create water droplets.

For coloring the Beach Chickies I used my Copic Sketch markers:

  • Chickie: Y11, Y13, Y18, B00, BG02, BG05, YG01, YG13, YG17
  • Coconut: E55, E57, E59, YG01, YG13, YG17, Y13
  • Umbrella: B00, BG02, BG05, B93, B95, B97

After I finished coloring I used the coordinating dies to die cut them. To also add some shimmer and shine to the images I used Stickles, Wink of Stella, and Glossy Accents. With a white gel pen I added dots to the umbrella. I stamped the sentiment with VersaSafine Onyx Black ink as that is a nice juicy ink which I needed because I coated it in clear glossy embossing powder and heat set it.

I hope you like this card and it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Card | Let’s All Go To The Beach

Hi everyone! I don’t think I’ve ever made so many cards with 1 stamp set in such a short period of time. For this card I stamped and colored everything from the Beach Chickies stamp set. That is also the reason I named this post, “Let’s all go to the beach”.

As I wanted this card to be dimensional and special, I chose to work with the mini pop-up box die from Lawn Fawn. The idea behind the box in the middle was that I wanted that chickie to be sort of the lifeguard watching over all the other chickies. Although he is not doing an awesome job as the chickie with the kite is almost flying away!

I’ve also created 2 video’s: One is all about the copic coloring, the other shows the assembly process of the card. If you like watching my video’s, make sure to subscribe.

I hope you liked this card and it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Card | Beach Chickie Background

Hi everyone! This is already card number 5 with the Beach Chickies from Mama Elephant! I really love stamp sets with which you can create various card designs. And this set is definitely one of those! If you also want to see all the other cards, you can find them here.

For this card I thought it would be fun to create a background with a couple of images from the set. I chose 2 beach chickies to be the main focal points and used the crab and coconut to fill in white space.

The Copic Sketch markers I used:

  • Chickie on towel: Y11, Y13, Y18, YG01, YG13, B00, BG02, BG05, C1, C3, C5, C9
  • Mermaid Chickie: Y11, Y13, Y18, YG01, YG13, YG17, YG67
  • Coconut: C5, E13, E39, YG17, R22, R24, R29
  • Crab: R22, R24, R29

I hope you like this card and it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Card | A Day at the Beach

Hi everyone! Let’s go to the beach with the Beach Chickies! This card shows a typical day at the beach: During the day you enjoy the sun and take a dive, and in the evening you enjoy the last rays of sunshine with a cocktail.

To make the card, I first stamped and colored the images from Mama Elephant with my Copic Sketch markers. To create the backgrounds I blended several Distress Ink colors. For the blue sky I used Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean. For the sunset sky I used Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, and Fired Bricked. To create the sand I blended Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.

For the polaroid frame I used the Die-Namic from MFT called Polaroid Shaker Frame. To make the card look playful, I adhered the images also outside the polaroid frames. The yellow-ish background is from the Spiffy Speckles paper from Lawn Fawn.

I hope you like this card and it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!
