Peekabuddies Friendship Card – Mama Elephant

Hi everyone! This stack of critter friends is so adorable! I thought this would be perfect for a friendship card with a playful sentiment.

Before I’m diving into the cardmaking process, I want to mention we have a challenge running over at Cloud9 Crafts. The theme of this month is “Stencils”. Head over to Instagram to see how you can participate and be eligible to win a prize!

First I stamped the image from Peekabuddies on Perfect Colouring paper and colored them with Copic markers.

  • Penguin: BV20, C7, C5, C1, C0
  • Cat: W4, W2, W0
  • Bear: E23, E21, E31, E30
  • Dog: E50, E51, E53, E23, E21
  • Bunny: E33, E31, E30, W0
  • Elephant: E30, W0, W2, W4

After coloring I fussy cut the images with Cutterbee scissors. The set does have coordinating dies, but I also wanted to die cut the left side of the image with the stitched rectangle die, so fussy cutting seemed the best way to go.

With a slimline stitched rectangle die I die cut a piece of white cardstock and added splatters to it with Distress Oxide Salvaged Patina. This color matches very nicely with the Tide Pool cardstock which I used as cardbase.

For the sentiment I used both of the sentiments from the Peekabuddies set, but masked part of it before inking it up and stamping. This way I could create my own sentiment, with the die cut Lucky Alphas in between. For the die cut letters I used a variety of colored cardstock: Sticky Note, Sunflower, Ballet Slippers, Guava, Mermaid, and Tide Pool. When stacking up all of the letters, I made sure to offset the lighter and darker color, creating a shadow effect. To add to the playfulness of the card, I adhered the letters a bit willy nilly.

I hope you like this card, and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
