A Cat-tastic Birthday Card – My Favorite Things

Hi everyone! This is the purrfect birthday card for a cat and cookie lover! I really enjoyed making this card, from the ink blending all the way to the coloring.

Before I’m diving into the cardmaking process, I want to mention we have a challenge running over at Cloud9 Crafts. The theme of this month is “die cuts only”. Head over to Instagram to see how you can participate and be eligible to win a prize!

First I stamped the images from Chip, Chip, Hooray! on Perfect Colouring paper and colored them with Copic markers:

  • Cookie: E25, E53, E50
  • Cat: E40, E50, W0, W2, W6, R20

After coloring I added a few highlights with a white gel pen.

For the background I used the Plaid stencil and Distress Oxide Worn Lipstick. For the thin stripes of the stencil I used the Simon Hurley Cross My Heart paste. This is a super fun paste which changes color when it catches the light! Once the paste had dried, I die cut the background with a slimline die.

To create the cookies, I die cut circles from Speckled Eggshell cardstock with the Watercolor Circle die. This paper already has a good base color for cookies. I did darken the edges with Distress Oxide Vintage Photo from which I also created splatters on top.

The background panel I adhered on top of a Ballet Slippers cardbase. The cookies, cats, and sentiment I adhered with foam squares for dimension.

I hope you like this card and tag, and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
