3D Birthday Truck – Mama Elephant

Hi everyone! Today I have some fun inspiration for you for the 3D challenge! A while ago I saw a video from Jennifer McGuire with a great idea to create pop up cards without any specialty dies. When I saw this truck from the latest Mama Elephant release I just had to try it out!

Before I’m diving into the cardmaking process, I want to mention we have a challenge running over at Cloud9 Crafts. The theme of this month is “3D project”. Head over to Instagram to see how you can participate and be eligible to win a prize!

First I stamped the images from Deliver by Truck on Perfect Colouring paper and colored them with Copic markers:

  • Truck: G24, G21, G20, C9, C7, C5, C3, C1, C0, Y21
  • Chick and bird: Y26, Y21, E40
  • Dog and kangaroo: E55, E53, E51, E50
  • Balloons and presents: BG32, BG11, BG10, R22, R20, R000, Y000, Y21, Y26, G21, G20

After coloring, I die cut the images with coordinating dies. I adhered the critters and presents with liquid glue to the car, and also die cut another car to adhere to the back to make it more sturdy.

To make the ‘card’ even more festive, I also die cut a banner and flags using the Scalloped Box Card Pop Up die. The sentiment on the truck and banner are from the Deliver Lots Of Cheer set. The paper used for the flags is from the Flower Market paper pack.

Then to make the card 3d, I used a trick from Jennifer McGuire (video). It is basically creating a paper harmonica element between the front and back truck. This allows the card to become flat and fit in an envelope, and pop out and stand up when removed from the envelope. It is a really neat trick!

I hope you like this card, and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
