Mini Slimline Card with Various Vellum Techniques – Pinkfresh Studio

Hi everyone! As you may have noticed, lately I love playing with vellum elements on cards. In this card the butterflies and leaf are both made out of vellum. To break up all the pink-ish colors and add interest to the card, I added a number of white elements and played a lot with layers.

First I stamped the Detailed Leaf from Pinkfresh Studio on vellum with VersaMark ink and heat set the white embossing powder. On the back of the heat embossed leaf, I ink blended Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry, Dusty Concord, and Villainous Potion. I picked these colors as they went very well with the alcohol ink background pattern paper.

To break up all the pink/purple colors on the card, I wanted to add a few white elements. From white cardstock I die cut the Ornate Circle and Leafy Branch. The latter I adhered directly on the background with liquid glue, and the ornate circle I popped up with foam tape. For adhering the vellum leaf, I used silicone tape which you barely see, which is perfect.

For the sentiment I foiled Love with Aura foil on Hammermill cardstock. This soft gold foil matches nicely with the subtle gold in the background. To add some more interest and a few more gold elements, I also added Small Butterflies which I foiled on vellum.

As a finishing touch, I added Blush Glitter Drops to the background in a couple of places.

I hope you like this card, and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!

This card was inspired by the current Pinkfresh Studio challenge.

  1. Maartje, I adore butterflies – especially all those we have ‘blooming’ on our front porch each year! If I could customize ours, they would have these gorgeous vellum wings, too!
I don’t believe I have ever tried hot foiling on vellum – on paper is difficult enough! But I will try!
    Your card is gorgeous!

  2. Beautiful card! I am partial to white embossing on vellum, especially with plants and flowers. Can’t really say why other than it’s just visually appealing to me. Plus your colors are gorgeous!

  3. All the work I have seen by you, Maartje is absolutely gorgeous!! You are so artistic and know how to blend color so well. This card is as beautidul as everything else you have done!
