One Layer Christmas Card feat. Fa La La – Mama Elephant

Hi everyone! This new Fa La La set is so super adorable! The cute critters really did not need much else on the card, so I kept it simple as a one layer card with some night sky ink blending and twinkling stars (or snow 😉 ).

Before I’m diving into the cardmaking process, I want to mention we have a challenge running over at Cloud9 Crafts. The theme of this month is “It’s the Season”. Head over to Instagram to see how you can participate and be eligible to win a prize!

First on a piece of printer paper, I planned out my scene so I knew in which order I had to stamp the images and what to mask off. For all of the images, I created masks, and started stamping on the Neenah cardstock. All the images had to be masked off in the end, as I wanted to do ink blending for the background.

Before I started with the ink blending, I first wanted to stamp and heat emboss the sentiment from Joyful Greetings. It was easier to do it in this order, as otherwise I had to wait for the background to be dry, or heat set it.

Using the Watercolor Wash stencil, I was able to ink blend the center portion of the card. The Distress Oxides I used are: Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass, and Hickory Smoke. After ink blending, I splattered the background with white gold from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolor set.

After removing the masks, it was time to color the images with Copic markers:

  • Fox: E37, E99, YR24, YR21, E42, E41, E40, E59, E35
  • Bear: E43, E42, E41, E40, R30
  • Penguin: W2, N7, N5, N3, YR24, W0, N0
  • Reds: E57, R29, R24, R22
  • Greens: G28, YG67, YG17, YG03
  • Lights: Y21, BG0000, B000
  • Lamp pole: B91, C7, C5, C3

I hope you like this card, and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
