Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a masculine card, which can easily be an all-occasion card. To achieve this, I stayed on the cooler side of the rainbow, and played around with the new Simple Blocked Messages from Mama Elephant. I also love the texture the stencil embossing technique gave to the background!
Before I’m diving into the cardmaking process, I want to mention we have a challenge running over at Cloud9 Crafts. The theme of this month is Stencils. Head over to Instagram to see how you can participate and be eligible to win a prize!

On my YouTube channel I also have a process video available in which I show how to do the stencil embossing technique with the Gemini Jr. If you like watching my videos, remember to subscribe so you won’t miss a thing.
First I ink blended the background with Distress Oxides: Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Dusty Concord. After having applied a light layer, I put the Brick stencil on top, and again used the same colors for the bricks. This gives a nice tone on tone look.
To make the bricks stand out more and add dimension, I used the stencil embossing technique. I love how much this added to the background! In the video you can see the before and after.

In order to give the background a bit of a distressed look, I splattered water on top, and lifted some of the ink with a paper towel. Next to that, I added white splatters. This will also tie in nicely with the distressed look of the sentiments.

The sentiments are from the Simply Blocked Messages from Mama Elephant, and I stamped them with the same colors I used for the background. To make sure the sentiments would still stand out, I adhered them with foam tape on top of vellum, which I also adhered with foam tape to the background.
I hope you like this card, and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
