My New Favorite Distress Oxide Combination!

Hi everyone! I got my hands on a new goodie from the Clearly Besotted release of February. While making the card I was figuring out what Distress Oxide combination would go well with the pattern paper. And guess what?! I found a new favorite color combo! My other favorite is Salvaged Patina and Kitsch Flamingo. And my new favorite also involves Salvaged Patina. I guess it is a color that goes well with everything!

Before I’m diving into the cardmaking process, I wanted to mention we have a new challenge running over at Cloud9 Crafts. The theme of this month is shaker cards. Head over to Instagram to see how you can participate and be eligible to win a prize!

First I stamped the critters from the Whatever the Weather Fun on Perfect Colouring paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. After stamping, I colored the critters with my Copic markers:

  • Critters: E43, E33, E11, E00, E000, R30
  • Purple: BV08, BV04, BV02, BV00
  • Teal: BG49, BG45. B00, BG11
  • Pink: RV66, RV55, RV52

On their cheeks I added small white dots with a gel pen, I think this makes them look even cuter! Also on the umbrella and flower I added white dots to make them look more whimsical. After coloring, I fussy cut the critters with my Cutter Bee scissors.

On the cardbase, which measures 6.5″ x 3.5″, I adhered pattern paper from the Really Rainbow Collection Pack. On top of that, I adhered a white panel on which I foiled Rainbow hot foil paper with the Twinkle Lights hot foil plate. The colors I chose for the accessories of the critters, was actually based on the colors in this foil.

In the center I wanted to put a big sentiment, and I chose the Big Birthday Wishes from Mama Elephant. I die cut this 4 times out of white cardstock. On one of the white cardstock pieces I did ink blending with Distress Oxide Salvaged Patina and Shaded Lilac. I absolutely love this combination! I then stacked all the die cuts on top of each other for dimension. This helps making the sentiment stand out from the background.

On either side of the sentiment, I adhered the critters with thin foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives. I think the critters turned out really cute, and I cannot wait to make a card with the other critters in the set!

I hope you like this card, and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
