A Jolly Christmas Shaker Card – Mama Elephant

Hi everyone! As I’m not entirely in the mood yet for creating Christmas cards, I created one in pastel colors instead of traditional colors. What do you prefer? Traditional or pastel? To make the card extra festive, I added a Boba shaker, plus sparkling snow! Check out the detailed pictures or the video for a close up look.

This month we have a Food and Drinks challenge over at Cloud9 Crafts. Check out the Instagram post to learn more! As I’m a DT member, I also created this card as inspiration for the challenge.

Over on my YouTube channel, you can find a process video of this card. You can also find a full list of supplies used in the description box. If you like watching my videos, remember to like and subscribe. Thanks!

I stamped all the images from Hot Cocoa with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Perfect Colouring paper. The Copic markers used are listed below. In the video on YouTube you can also see the coloring process.

  • Cup: E04, R85, R83, R81
  • Reindeer: E77, E74, E71, E70, R20
  • Cocoa: E49, E59
  • Leaves: BG75, BG72, BG11
  • Marshmallows: W2, W0

After coloring, I die cut everything with the coordinating dies. To create snow on the Mermaid background panel, I used the Snowy Sky stencil and modeling paste. To make the snow sparkly, I coated it in Prisma Glitter.

For the sentiment, I die cut the Big Oh So Jolly out of Ballet Slippers and Fog cardstock. These I stacked off set on top of each other to create a shadow layer. To make the sentiment sparkly, I added Stickles Frosted Lace on the bottom of the letters. For the Boba Shaker Combo I used the same colored cardstock as for the sentiment. As shaker material, I used the Rose Shell Blossoms, Golden Years Confetti, and Peacock Feathers Confetti by Tonic Studios.

When adhering all the elements, I made sure there was a good mix in the dimensions. So some items I glued directly to the cardbase, others I popped up with thin or regular foam squares.

I hope you like this card and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
