Hi everyone! As a new month has started, we also have a new challenge over at Cloud9 Crafts! The theme of this month is shaker cards. Check out our Instagram post to see how you can participate and have a chance to win a gift certificate. As I have a lot of beautiful sequins from Tonic Studio’s, I wanted to make the most of this shaker card.
First I stamped the image with my MISTI on Florence watercolor cardstock with Lawn Fawn Jellyfish ink. For this card, I wanted to do something different than coloring with my Copic markers, so I took out my Polychromos pencils. When I color with colored pencils, I make sure the paper is nicely saturated and then blend it all out with a Caran d’Ache Luminance White pencil. If you prefer, you can also blend with a blending stump, or with solvent. It depends what look you like and are going for.
Once the coloring part was done, I started with the shaker part. For this, I die cut a rectangle out of the Perfectly Plaid Remix paper and adhered acetate to the back of the frame with 1/8″ double sided adhesive. Then I doubled up the 3M Scotch foam tape and adhered it around the edges. On the card base, I adhered the remaining piece of pattern paper as I wanted to create a seamless look.
For the sequins, I chose a mix of 3 different kinds: Nuvo Pure Sheen 4 Pack Golden Years Confetti, Nuvo Pure Sheen 4 Pack Peacock Feathers Confetti, and Karin Joan Sequins Set Sparkly Missees Collection. After I was happy with the amount of sequins and ratios, I went around the foam tape with an anti-static powder tool before closing my shaker window.
Out of the Hello Sunshine Remix paper I die cut the Big Happy Birthday and adhered it on top of my shaker window. For the Boba Tea image I wanted to a have a bit more dimension, so I used the coordinating dies to die cut a matching piece out of white cardstock and adhered it behind my colored image. This way it all looks seamless, but does have more dimension.
I hope you like this card and it gave you inspiration. Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
