Participating in the MFT Color Challenge

Hi everyone! Today is King’s day in the Netherlands, which under normal circumstances means, the whole land turns orange. Coincidentally, over at MFT there is currently a color challenge which includes orange! So I took this opportunity to take part in the challenge and create a card with lots of orange and the adorable Flower Fairies.

First I stamped the fairies on Perfect Colouring paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored them with my copic markers:

  • Hair: E51, E53, E55
  • Skin: E13, E11, E00, E000, R20
  • Dress: BG10, BG11, BG32, BG13, BG15
  • Leaves: BG10, BG11, BG32
  • Flowers: Y19, YR04, YR6

After coloring, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. To create the background, ink blended Distress Oxide Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin on white cardstock. To add interest to the background, I diluted the Carved Pumpkin and created splatters. To also create shimmering splatters, I used Gansai Tambi watercolors.

The sentiment I stamped with VersaMark ink on Mermaid cardstock from Lawn Fawn and heat set the white embossing powder. From white cardstock, I die cut a frame which I placed on the background with Scotch Foam Tape. The sentiment strip and Flower Fairies I adhered with foam tape as well.

For some finishing touches, I put Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents in a number of places, which you can see very well in the detailed photos above. I love how much this adds to the Flower Faries, it gives them that bit of extra. On the background I also put a few Nuvo Drops White Blizzard, which when they dry, pick up the color of the background.

I hope you like this card and it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!
