Mixed Media page with the Blooming collection of Studio Light

Hi everyone! As you might know I’m part of the design team for the Blooming collection of Karin Joan for Studio Light. With card making, I’m sometimes left with scraps of paper which I cannot really use for cards anymore. To not waste any cardstock, I wanted to create a mixed media page using scraps of paper. It has been a while since I did a mixed media project, but I hope you’ll like it!

For this page I first adhered the scrap paper from the Paper Pads with gel medium to craft cardstock. To add more interest and texture, I first painted acrylic paint over a stencil to get some designs going on the background. The stencils used are by Tim Holtz: Flourish (THS032), and Mini Stencil Set 26. The acrylic paints are from Docrafts, Artiste: Blanc, Tea Pink, Buttermilk, Dusty Rose. I really like how well these paints matched with the cardstock and Blooming line from Karin Joan.

Once the paint was dry, I grabbed a script stamp from 49 and Market called “Pascale’s Writings Stamp”. Of course you can use any script stamp you have in your stash. I used Archival Ink Plum to stamp the text. Then I picked out a couple of flowers and leaves from the Die Cut blocks nr 1 and 2 of Karin Joan. The sentiment on the white paper is from the Die Cut block nr 1 (A5STANSBLOKKJ01). The ‘Bloom’ sentiment is from a die in the Stamp & Die combo nr 1 (BASICSDCKJ01).

Once I decided where I wanted everything to go, I adhered it all with gel medium. To create a frame around the page, I lightly went around the border with the Distress Crayon Black Soot and smudged it with my finger. And that finishes off the page!

I really hoped you like it and it gave you some inspiration. On my blog is also a dedicated page for all my creations with the Blooming line, plus information about the collection and where you can get it.

Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
