One Layer Cact-Us Card

Hi everyone! Here is my second card with the Let’s Stick Together stamp set from MFT! And as valentines day is coming up, I thought it would be cute to create a card in that theme. This was also my first time creating a one layer card!

For the ones interested, I have also created a video on my YouTube channel. If you like watching my videos and don’t want to miss any future videos, make sure to subscribe to my channel.

First I die cut the background panel with the Wonky Stitched Rectangles die. Then I first stamped the flower pot on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. After stamping, I masked off the flower pot with masking paper. Now I could stamp the cactus on top, making it look like it was sitting in the flower pot.

Before I started with coloring the cactus, I first wanted to ink blend the background. I used Distress Oxide ink Picked Raspberry and Candied Apple. To get a nice subtle pattern on the background, I ink blended Candied Apple on the ‘Love is in the air‘ stencil from MFT and sprayed shimmer spray on top.

Once the background was dry, I removed the masking paper and colored the cactus with my copic markers:

  • Cactus: YG01, YG13, YG15, YG17, R22, RV14, RV11
  • Flower pot: E09, E39, E37, E35

It was a lot of fun to create a one layer card, but also really hard! I always like adding dimension and I would have loved to use Glimmer Paste on the background. But, I made the promise to myself to keep the card one layer.

I hope you like this card and it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!
