Card | Sunset Birthday with Distress Ink

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing another beach themed card with the Beach Chickies from Mama Elephant. In a previous post I created a card with a sunset in a polaroid frame and I liked that idea so much that I extended it to a whole card.

To create the background, I masked of the top and bottom part of the paper. From the bottom to the way up I blended the following Distress Inks making sure they are blended well together for a smooth transition: Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick. To give the background a nice shine, I brushed Perfect Pearls on top. To also a bit more interest, I sprayed water on top to fix the pearls and create water droplets.

For coloring the Beach Chickies I used my Copic Sketch markers:

  • Chickie: Y11, Y13, Y18, B00, BG02, BG05, YG01, YG13, YG17
  • Coconut: E55, E57, E59, YG01, YG13, YG17, Y13
  • Umbrella: B00, BG02, BG05, B93, B95, B97

After I finished coloring I used the coordinating dies to die cut them. To also add some shimmer and shine to the images I used Stickles, Wink of Stella, and Glossy Accents. With a white gel pen I added dots to the umbrella. I stamped the sentiment with VersaSafine Onyx Black ink as that is a nice juicy ink which I needed because I coated it in clear glossy embossing powder and heat set it.

I hope you like this card and it gave you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!
